A child seat can be placed in the front passenger seat with the back facing the road. Before installing the child seat in the passenger seat, you must disable the passenger airbag.
Since the passenger airbag system and the placement of the child seat are related to each other, when there is a problem with the airbag system, there is also a problem with placing the child seat in the front passenger seat.
The DF071 and DF072 fault codes received on Renault vehicles indicate that there is a problem with the passenger airbag, and therefore with the process of placing a child seat in the front seat.
A child seat is placed in the front seat as follows:
The child seat should be placed behind the front passenger seat and with the child’s face facing the opposite direction of travel.
The passenger airbag must be disabled before the child seat is placed. The child safety system (safety child and airbag system) both do not work together and should not work. Because opening the passenger airbag in the event of an accident damages the child in the back of the seat.
The passenger airbag is switched off while the ignition is switched off. When the ignition is turned on, the corresponding airbag warning light should light up .(Airbag mark with 2 written on it)
The child seat is placed in the front passenger seat, while this sign is lit on the instrument panel.
Possible problems with the vehicle with the Renault fault code DF072:
The airbag fault lamp lights up on the instrument panel.
Brief description of the DF072 fault code:
- Related to the Uch brain: Child safety circuit
- Related to the airbag system: Driver front airbag circuit 1
- If there is a problem with the driver’s front airbag circuit number 1, DF072,
- If there is a problem with the driver’s front airbag circuit number 2, DF071,
These problems are commonly caused by several factors listed below:
- Since the airbag-related cables pass under the front passenger seat, the cables coming out of the socket during the forward and backward movements of the front passenger seat are the most common cause of such malfunctions.
- Licking the socket over time, contamination, and not fitting the cable properly are other common causes of the DF072 fault code.
- Breakage, wear, short circuit, jamming of airbag cables over time.
- Dislocation of airbag cables due to impact or vehicle entering a pit, non-contact.
- Oxidation due to water entering the sockets during the internal and external washing processes of the vehicle.
- Airbag wrap failure.
- Brain malfunction.
DF072 Renault fault code solution
When the front passenger seat is pushed back, the airbag cables and sockets are exposed. Oxidation in the sockets, contamination, cable coming out of the socket, jamming of the cables or non-contact situations are checked.
If a problem is detected that can be corrected manually, it is corrected and the DF072 fault code is deleted to see if the brain will produce the same code again.
If this is not the problem, the possibility of airbag wrap failure seen in some Renault vehicles is focused on. Normally, the airbag wrap is not a part that easily fails, but on some Renault models, such as Megan 2, it appears as a chronic malfunction.
